Among about 20 oil paintings I’ve done so far, this is my favorite. As a novice painter, I struggled with the hand (Like Van Gogh ha ha) and also with the creases of the shepherd’s shirt. How do I express the lamb’s fine hair with a brush? etc, etc,

Like all artists, I had to be brave, boldly going where no man has ever gone before, that is on my canvas.

So every morning, I sat in front of the canvas, said a brief prayer and then painted little bit at a time until I finished it. While painting, I found myself resting like the lamb in the picture. I also discovered that the lamb has a heart-shaped nose!

The shirt color symbolizes the blood of Jesus and the color of sins He soaked up from us.
